The Madison County 4-H Youth Development Program invites parents and youth to a 4-H Livestock Club Informational Meeting on Thursday, July 3rd from 6:00pm-7:30pm at the Madison County Extension Office. For more information please call the Madison County Extension Office at 649-2411.
Archery II : For youth (ages 8 and older) who have had some experience with archery, join us from 9am-12 noon, July 7-9 at the Cooperative Extension Center to hone your skills! This is a great opportunity for skill building and practice time! Cost is $12 per child. You do not have to be a 4-H member to participate. To preregister, contact Eve at 649-2411 or email Eve_Kindley@ncsu.edu. Spaces are limited so register early.
4-H West District Activity Day (DAD) 2008 will be held on Thursday June 26th on the campus of Brevard College in Brevard, NC. The event will be hosted by Jackson County 4-H. Madison County 4-H youth join other 4-H youth from Western NC to share their presentations and demonstrate their talent. West District Activity Day is free and open to the public. Come and see what 4-H has to offer!
Beginning Archery: For the young person who's never used a bow and arrow (or had very limited experience), this summer fun class is for you! Youth (ages 8-12) will learn the basics of archery (including safety, stance, parts of the bow and arrow) while target practicing! This class will be held from 9-12, June 16-18 at the Cooperative Extension Center. Cost is $12 per child. You do not have to be a 4-H member to participate. Attention all 4-Her’s!! Madison County Activity Night is scheduled for Tuesday, May 27th here at the Cooperative Extension Office from 6:00 to 8:00pm. We challenge every 4-Her in Madison County to give a presentation at County Activity Night! Please note that pre-registration is required by May 1. We encourage representation from every 4-H club in Madison County! Check with your club leader for ideas on topics or call us here at the 4-H Office! Youth who participate at county level may be eligible to attend 4-H District Activity Day (DAD) at Brevard College on June 26th. 4-H club members, families, and friends should plan on attending to support our youth participants! We hope to see you all at County Activity Night!!

Swannanoa 4-H center is shaking off the cobwebs and opening for summer camp! Swannanoa has welcomed campers since 1929, and after 3 years of quiet cabins we are ready to fill the hills with laughter! Please come help us get ready for campers! Bring your 4-H club, family, and friends!! Food will not be provided, so please bring a sack lunch and picnic on our beautiful front porch! Don't have all day? That's okay, just drop in anytime during the allotted times for clean-up days to help! We have clean-up projects for all ages and time frames! West District 4-H Teen Retreat: The West District 4-H Teen Retreat will be held Saturday April 5th through Sunday April 6th in Henderson County. It will be a fun-filled weekend for 4-H teens ages 12 to 18. Youth may choose to participate full time or part time (Saturday only). Events include funshops, 4-H Idol Talent Show, games, ropes course (additional fee), dancing, and more! Registration deadline is March 12 to the Madison County 4-H Office. 4-H Presentation Workshop What is a presentation? It's like show and tell with posters! Pick a fun topic, learn more about it, add posters and...share with others! It's a great way to learn more about public speaking and how to organize our thoughts. Plus you can earn rewards because it's a competition! Join us on Wednesday, April 9 from 5:30-7:30 at the Cooperative Extension Center to discover more about presentations! Call by April 1 to reserve your spot! Here's what we plan to do: 5:30 Meet and Greet 5:40 Introduction to 4-H Presentations (4-Hers who have done presentations will do their's for you!) 6:00 Choosing a fun, interesting topic 6:30 Refreshments (to hold us over 'til we go home for supper!) 6:45 Organizing a presentation 7:15 Tips for creating great posters 7:30 Adjourn (leave excited about putting your own presentation together!)
